What Is On Your Winter Bucket List?

A bucket list is the ultimate “to do” list that anyone can have. These all the things you have always wanted to do but for one reason or another have put off. The great thing about a bucket list is that you can share it with friends and grandkids. In fact, once you start knocking off things in your bucket list, you’ll probably inspire your family to come up with their own bucket list. Bucket list can also be seasonal. That means you can have a list that is specifically geared for winter activities. Here’s what should be on your winter bucket list:

Build a Snowman

Do you want to build a snowman? Of course you do. The real question is when was the last time you did that? This is the perfect activity to do with the grandkids. Snow is snow and before it melts, you need to get out and play. Bonus points for a creative snowman. Check out Pinterest for suggestions. While you’re out in the snow, you should also get a team together for a classic snowball fight. It usually takes about five hours to build up a snow barrier and make the snowballs and about ten minutes for the actual battle. Good times!

Polar Bear Plunge

This is one of those activities that often make the news with the headline, “Look at these crazy people!” A polar bear plunge is when you intentionally dive into freezing waters and have a short swim. There are various polar bear plunge clubs scattered around the country. Often these groups will take a dive for charity or on a special holiday like New Year’s Day. If you’re going to do this, then it might help to do it in a group or with someone who is waiting on the shore with a blanket and hot cocoa!

Watch All the Oscar Nominated Movies

This is the year you can make it happen. Okay, maybe you don’t need to watch all the nominees for sound editing but you can certainly knock out the best picture, actor, actress, director and screenplay nominees. If nothing else, then it puts you in a prime position for an Oscar Party Pool.

Ice Fish, Ice Hotel or Ice Bar

Clearly, the recurring theme here is ice. This is one of those activities where you might have to indulge in a little travel. There are real bars and hotel rooms made of ice. Ice fishing is best accomplished by going with someone who knows what they are doing and has their own fishing hut. Don’t forget your thermal layers!
