When To Start Your New Diet For Optimum Success

It is inconceivable for anyone to make a New Year’s resolution that doesn’t involve some level of getting healthier. Whether that means losing just a few pounds, getting back to the gym or having a goal of getting into shape for an upcoming wedding, New Year’s is always a good time to start a diet. However, starting on New Year’s Day might not be the best approach. That’s because there is always the chance there will be lingering celebrations and leftovers from the night before to enjoy. January 2, you’re good to go! Here are some other good days to start a new diet in order to achieve optimum success.

Mondays

Psychologically, Monday is the fresh start to the week. Beginning a diet on Monday allows you to go shopping on the weekend to prepare whatever healthy food you’re going to be having. The only drawback with starting to diet on a Monday is losing steam by Thursday. This doesn’t mean you should give up but instead try to push through and get to the end of the week knowing that the following Monday will be a goal day to check in.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

Although New Year’s Eve is the traditional resolution making time, there’s nothing stopping you from making a birthday or anniversary resolution. Starting a diet or joining a gym on your birthday is a great gift to give yourself. Yes, you can still have a piece of cake; just make a small one!

First Day of The Month

Fresh starts also begin on the first day of the month. If you are a regular gym member, then you might notice a lot of newer faces around the gym on the first day of the month. Starting your diet on the first day of the month let’s you set up a long-range goal. If you can stick to it for the next 30 days, then you will have achieved a lot toward your weight loss goal.

New Season

It might not always seem like it because of the rising and falling temperatures but every season has a specific start date. This would be another good day to start a diet on. Starting on the first day of spring can give you a sense of rejuvenation and get you primed for summer swimsuit season. Starting on the first day of fall can get you into some good healthy eating habits before the temptations of the holidays. Pick your season and get going!
