Makówki
This poppy filled dessert comes from Hungary which is known for having poppy seeds incorporated in a large majority of their dishes. Makówki is composed of thinly sliced bread, topped with butter, poppy seeds, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and rum. The dish is structured in layer form and is prepared hours before consumptions to allow the flavors to properly soak through. Other toppings like almonds, pistachios, and dried fruit can be added as desired. This dessert is iconic for being served on Christmas Eve and is often consumed after soup.
