Don’t forget the Side Dishes!

Ahhh, it’s that time again, sun, flip flops, grills, and Fourth of July.  The amazing thing about the fourth of July is that it’s not just about the fireworks and the celebration with good company but the side dishes.

It’s the one holiday where the side dishes really take the show.  Fourth of July food has come a long way since its inception. From vintage fluff salads, pink lemonade and festive sandwiches.

There doesn’t need to be too much effort put into a side, just a lot of fresh, robust flavor.

Guacamole

The ultimate treat on a hot summer’s day and tastes its best when shared. You can’t go wrong with a bowl of guacamole. Plus there is always a chip in need of a dip!

Red White & Blueberry Salad

Berries are at their peak so make the most of them on this special day. Add a little goat cheese to make it a patriotic treat.

Watermelon Salad

This dish is easy, filling and is a must try at any 4th of July party. The best part is IT’S EASY! Just cut up some watermelon and throw in a bit of feta and there you have it!

Street Corn

This will add a little kick to your traditional sides. It is full of flavor and will really steal the show. You can eat it on the cob or serve it in a bowl. If serving in a bowl, mix together, sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, and chili powder. These ingredients really emphasize true summer flavors.

Side dishes don’t have to be complex, just full of flavor! You can enjoy them at your next BBQ or even better yet bring one to this year’s Fourth of July celebrations!
